Terms of Service
These terms govern the use of images created and delivered by Ryan Stanikk Photography. By accessing or downloading images from a provided gallery, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms. Ryan Stanikk Photography
What you can do with the images
The licence is deliberately broad, because you commissioned the pictures to use them. Once a gallery is delivered you may use the images to promote your own business for as long as you like, with no further permission needed and no expiry: your website, social accounts, menus, printed material, packaging, PR and press, listings and directories, email, and paid advertising.
There is no separate fee for advertising use, no renewal to remember and no need to come back and ask. If you are wondering whether something counts, the test is simple: are you using the photographs to sell what you do?
What the licence does not cover
Two things sit outside it, because they are selling the photography itself rather than using it:
- Reselling the images. Selling them as prints, wall art, stock, downloads or any product where the photograph is the thing being bought.
- Passing them to a third party to use as their own. Supplying, licensing or sub-licensing the images to another company for their marketing. This includes a brand or supplier featured in the shoot: if they want the pictures, send them to me and I will sort a licence out with them directly.
Sharing images with a venue, agency or publication so they can feature you is fine and expected. Handing them over so they can run their own campaigns is not.
Copyright
Copyright stays with Ryan Stanikk Photography. That is standard for commissioned photography in the UK and it is what makes the licence above possible to grant. A credit is appreciated where it is natural, on social especially, but it is not required.
Editing and integrity
Crop, resize and adapt the images to fit whatever you are making. Please do not apply heavy filters, recolour the food, or alter them in a way that misrepresents the venue, the product or the people in them.
People in the photographs
Where images include staff, customers or models, the licence covers marketing your business, not implying endorsement by an individual. If a shoot involves recognisable members of the public, tell me in advance and we will handle permissions properly on the day.
My own use
I use selected images in my portfolio, on this website, on social and in awards or press submissions. If a shoot is under embargo, commercially sensitive or covered by an NDA, say so before the shoot and I will hold it back until you are ready, or indefinitely if that is what you need.
Booking, payment and cancellation
Dates are held once a booking is confirmed. Larger bookings may take a deposit, with the balance due on delivery. If you need to move a date, as much notice as possible is appreciated and I will do what I can. Cancellation close to the shoot date may be charged where the day cannot be refilled.
Delivery
Galleries are delivered through a private online gallery, normally within 5 to 7 working days. Larger shoots can take up to two weeks. Urgent selects can usually be turned around within 24 to 48 hours if agreed in advance. Please download your gallery and keep your own copy: galleries are not a permanent archive, though I keep files as long as is practical.
