Commercial Photography Southampton

There's a real divide between taking photos that wow people and taking photos that actually work for a business. As a commercial photographer, I'm thinking about where every image will live before I pick up the camera. Will it need to work as a website banner where text needs to fit? A square social post? A menu with pricing overlaid? A Deliveroo listing where the dish needs to sell itself in a thumbnail?

My background in graphic design is what drives this. I instinctively leave breathing room in compositions, consider crop ratios for different platforms, and think about how graphics and branding will be combined with the image later. The photographs I deliver aren't the end of their journey - they're part of a larger commercial communication.

This approach changes everything about how I work on set. Lighting isn't just about mood (although that matters); it's about making the product look its absolute best. Composition isn't just visual balance; it's about guiding someone's eye exactly where the client needs it to go. Every element in the frame has to earn its place.
